What is ‘promo support’?
Books do not just sell themselves (unfortunately). Once all the hard work is done writing, editing and publishing your book baby, you then need to start promoting it ~ even if you’ve published through a traditional publisher.
While I do not promote your books for you, I offer a number of services to help you promote your work and add value to your books.
These services include education-focused promo and public promo tips (book launches, speaking, blogging etc.)
- teaching notes (study guides)
- school visit preparation
- teacher professional learning
- book launches
- speaking events
- social media & blogs
The education market is very lucrative for kidlit creatives ~ but you need to be prepared and knowledgeable about the Australian Curriculum and what schools want and need. With 26 years of experience as a teacher, I can ensure you are ready.
Teachers want curriculum-aligned activities that are engaging, easy to deliver and cover a range of subject areas ~ and this is what I provide. No boring lists of questions, and no ‘shush-and-colour’.
School visit preparation
These days, schools want more than an author sitting and reading their book aloud; they want engaging, interactive presentations that are curriculum-aligned. It can be daunting if you’re not a teacher but I can mentor you through that with easy-to-implement ideas and activities to suit your personality and comfort level.
Teacher professional learning
Very few teachers see themselves as writers, and this is where you come in. I can mentor you in sharing your knowledge and expertise with teachers, through delivering presentations and practical workshops.
Selling yourself ~ selling your books ~ is hard work but it is absolutely necessary if you want people to know who you are and to seek out your work.
You can hire a promoter or marketer but not everyone can afford that. Luckily, it is possible to promote your books yourself relatively cheaply if you put aside some time and put in the effort.
Posting consistently on social media is probably the easiest way to promote your books. Blogging is useful too. If you’re not sure what to post or blog about, or you don’t know how, I can certainly assist you with this.
Grabbing every opportunity to speak about your work is a great way to get known, whether this is through book launches and tours, speaking engagements, radio interviews or podcasts. I can help you step out of your comfort zone with confidence.
