My manuscript is finished. Now what?
Submit to a publisher
Who will you submit your manuscript to? What do you need to do? Let me help you with that.
Self-publish (mentoring)
Self-publishing can be easy if you know what you’re doing. Let me guide you through the process.
Project management
Not everyone has the time or patience to do it all themselves. This is where I come in as your project manager.
Submit to a publisher
Let’s face it, every author’s dream is to be offered a publishing contract from one of our big publishers.
It’s not an impossible dream but there are processes to follow, boxes to tick and much work to be done.
The last thing you want to do, however, is make the mistakes many first-time authors make, namely: submitting before your manuscript is ready AND/OR not following the publisher’s submission guidelines.
If terms like cover letter, comparison titles, synopsis, illustration notes, pagination and so on send your brain into overload, I can help.
While it’s important to realise that no author coach or editor can guarantee you’ll receive that elusive contract, I can guide you through the submission process to give you the best possible chance.
Self-publication (mentoring)
There are many reasons authors decide to self-publish their work. You may have tried but not succeeded in gaining a publishing contract. Maybe your manuscript has a time-bound subject and you can’t wait several years for it to come out. Or perhaps you want to retain full control of all the elements that go into a finished book.
Whatever your reason, you still need to go in with your eyes open. There are many things you need to be aware of, and action, if you want your book to be the best it can be. You also want to give yourself every chance of sales.
If you have the time to devote to self-publishing your book, but are not sure where to start or how to go about it, get in touch. I can step you through the process and connect you with the people you need.
Self-publication (project management)
Publishing your book is not just about having a thoroughly edited manuscript. (Although, that should definitely be your first step.)
To pull your book together you need to consider graphic design and text layout, illustrations or other internal images, front cover, back cover blurb, barcode, ISBN, printing … and distribution and promotion!
It’s a long process and can be overwhelming.
If you’re committed to self-publishing your manuscript and want to retain control over the different stages BUT do not have the time to do it all yourself, I can assist you by acting as your project manager.
As project manager, I will ensure every step is covered and that you are involved in all the decisions, including the engagement of graphic designers, illustrators and other people needed to turn your words into a book.
My number one priority is to give you a book you are proud to share with the world.
